In 2001, we started the California
Actors Theatre in a small stage across from the Mission in San Juan
Capistrano, California.
Our mission then is the same as today:
To provide the highest quality theatrical presentation at the lowest possible
price.
There needs to be more theatre in our
lives and less television! We are determined to do timely drama's, comedies
and musicals with local talent in order to further the artistic experiences
for all in our community.
Our long term goal is to offer Small
Equity Contracts to our performers and technicians so as to promote
professional theatre in our community as well.
My wife, Kim, and I have worked
extensively in the professional theatre and believe strongly in it and the
place it plays in our society.
We think all artists should be paid for
their time and efforts and that that is the basis for how we deal with our
actors, designers and stage hands. Unfortunately, we are unable to pay our
people at this moment. But the future is bright and as soon as it is
economically feasible, we will pay all our volunteers!
This, of course, leads us to the next
issue of how much we need many more volunteers to get involved in our Theatre.
There isn't a person who breaths who couldn't help us in some way. And I hope
we can help them as well. So please contact us if you have any time and want
to get involved.
We hope to see you soon.
