If
I have a full pie, of course I’ll share a piece with someone else.
If I have two cars, of course I’ll loan one—the oldest, of course.
If I have $200 in my pocket, of course I’ll give $1 or $2, maybe even $5 or
$10 to someone who has none.
The problem is that it's really hard for me to be
generous when there is only one piece of my favorite pie and someone else
also wants it.
It is hard for me to be generous when I have a new car,
all bright and shiny and running good and someone without a car wants to
borrow it.
It is hard for me to be generous when I only have $5.00
in my pocket and someone without any money asks me for help.
It's even harder when I only have $25 in my billfold,
very little in my checking account and utility bills a month past due and
then my church asks for a donation. What should I give them?
And yet, being generous when it is NOT easy is
exactly what God asks me to do.
It all comes back to trust.
If I can trust God, then I can be a better steward and I
can be more generous.
After all, If I have already turned everything over to
God, it is not really my pie, my car or my money anyway.
