How Big Is God's Love?

Next Chapter: How Do I Sing Hallelujah on Good Friday?

Have you ever hesitated to act or say something because you were concerned about how someone else might react?

I know I have, often thinking...

"If I say this, will my boss be mad at me?"

"If I say something wrong, will my wife not love me as much?"

"If I do this thing, will my friend not like me as much?"

Isn’t it wonderful to know there is nothing we can do or say that will separate us from God’s love? What freedom that gives us.

On the other hand, it isn’t easy for me to accept such love as this. I don’t deserve it. How can I receive so much love that I haven’t earned?

Then I think about my own children and grandchildren. There is absolutely, positively nothing they can do that will ever stop me from loving them. They may do things I don’t like, but I will always continue to love them.

WOW! Is that how it is with God and me?

Does God love me as much as I love my own family?

More?

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can't, and life can't. The angels can't, and the demons can't. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39 NLT)

Dear God, your love for me is so much greater than my love for you. I'm not sure I know how to respond to such unfailing, unconditional, ever-present love. But I do love you. Thank you for your love for me. Amen

Questions for consideration...
  1. Who or what do I absolutely, positively love the most?
  2. What could ever happen to stop my love?
  3. If God's love for me is as strong as my love, how do I feel?
