I Didn't Hear "Thank You"

Next Chapter: I Don't Want To Forgive

Well, somebody around here should learn how to say “Thank you.”

After all the work I did the least they could say is “Thank you.”

Doesn’t anyone ever get any appreciation around here?

How come they were thanked and I wasn’t?

When I do something I want to be, no, I expect to be, appreciated and thanked. RIGHT NOW!

Oops.

Sorry, Lord, I forgot my place. For a minute I thought I was the master but I am really only a servant. Was it only last Sunday that I prayed and sang “Take my life and use it any way that serves you”?

“And the servant is not even thanked, because he is merely doing what he is supposed to do. In the same way, when you obey me you should say, ‘We are not worthy of praise. We are servants who have simply done our duty.’” (Luke 17:9-10 NLT)

Lord Jesus, you are King of my life. Let your presence in my life be all the thanks I ever need or desire. Amen.

Questions for consideration...
  1. How do I feel when my work at the Church goes unrecognized?
  2. Am I more likely to do some work just because it needs doing and I can do it or because someone will thank me for doing it?
  3. Can I think of work that has been done but I don't know who did it?
  4. When was the last time I did a significant amount of work without being recognized as the person who did it?
