In
the book and movie "Dune", there is a great line. The young prince Leto is
told by his fighting instructor to get ready for a practice session. And
Leto declines saying, "I’m not in the mood."
Oops! Wrong response.
The instructor yells back something like "Not in the mood? Being in the
mood is for singing songs or loving, not for fighting."
Isn’t the Apostle Paul saying the same thing today to each of us?
"Preach the Word;
be prepared in season and out of season, in the mood and out of the mood."
I hate it when he says things like that because it hits me right
between the eyes.
I’m tired, I don’t want to write these devotions right now. But they are
needed for the Church bulletin. I’m busy and I don’t want to take time now
to talk to this friend or neighbor or co–worker or spouse or child or parent
or stranger about God and Jesus and what my faith means to me. I’m not in
the mood.
"Well, tough," Paul says.
"You’re in God’s Army now.
Stop complaining and start soldiering."
