 WOW,
to give up your life for a friend. I might voluntarily die so that my spouse
or my children or my grandchild might live. But for a friend? That's a
really close, demanding, friendship.
But, you know, dying for a friend might actually be easy compared to living for a friend. Think what it means to live every day for a friend—being there when they need someone to talk to, helping out without being asked, supporting without taking over, helping without expecting even a simple "Thank you". And doing it every day if necessary. For me that is an even greater love. I've had three friends who have loved me like that and I consider myself very fortunate. I also pray that I loved them that much in return. |
