What's My Attitude?

Next Chapter: Why God Made Strawberries

Charles Swindoll wrote this about attitude...

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do.

"It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill.

"It will make or break a company, a church, a home.

"The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change the past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude.

"I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you.

"We are in charge of our ATTITUDES."

In the Dale Carnegie Course "How to Win Friends and Influence People" they teach "Act enthusiastic and you will be enthusiastic!" Attitude!

At one time I had a number of young people working for me. Often it was their first job. I would tell them over and over "A good attitude will cover a multitude of mistakes." I would rather work with someone who has a great attitude and makes mistakes than work with someone who is perfect but has a poor attitude. Wouldn't you?

A relaxed attitude lengthens life; jealousy rots it away. (Proverbs 14:30 NLT)

For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. If you serve Christ with this attitude, you will please God. And other people will approve of you, too. (Romans 14:17-18 NLT)

Father in Heaven, give me today my daily bread and let my attitude show to everyone how grateful I am. Amen.

Something to think about...
  1. What has my attitude been like lately?
  2. Have I upset anyone because of my attitude?
  3. Is my attitude one that encourages others to talk with me and do things with me or does my attitude push them away?
  4. What might happen if, for a week, I show a smile on my face and display a willing, helpful attitude?
  5. How would such a week affect me?
  6. How would such a week affect others?
