Proverbs 3:5–6 was my mother’s favorite verse and has
become our family motto — it is read at family weddings, funerals and,
sometimes, daily.
My Mother was fond of saying, "If you are going to worry,
don't bother to pray. But if you are going to pray, then you don't need to
worry." It could be very upsetting to hear her say that — usually in the
middle of a family crisis. But I knew in my heart that she was right and
later I would think about what she said.
I have often wondered if living life is like playing the
game of Life — you know, the kid’s board game. If so, then I know I am going to
lose — and lose big time. But I keep reminding myself, that life is not a game
and that God is watching over me and directing every turn and twist in my
real day–to–day life. He said I could trust Him and so I do trust Him — as
much as I can. Some days that’s a lot, some days very little.
After all, trusting Him is really the only chance I have.
